Darlene McIntyre Obituary

Anita Darlene McIntyre, 85, of Helena, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home in Flemingsburg.  She was the widow of Charles “Buddy” McIntyre.

Born April 12, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Lucia “Herald” and Goldie “Ethel” Florence Hickerson.

At the early age of 15, Darlene married the love of her life, Buddy,  and worked right along beside him each and every day raising crops and dairy cattle.  Her favorite job on the farm was feeding the baby calves.  She always had a big meal on the table for all the farm hands to eat and stayed very busy gardening and canning.  She had a love for all animals especially cats and dogs.  Darlene had the kindest heart and always saw the best in everyone.

When she wasn’t farming she enjoyed watching westerns, working crossword puzzles, and sitting outside in the sun watching the birds and squirrels.

She is survived by her two children, Angie Lee and Sherry Mitchell both of Flemingsburg; her four grandchildren, Melissa (Joey) Greenwell, Amber (Rob) Corns, Charles (Sara) Mitchell, Heather Mitchell; her eight great grandchildren, Caleb Corns, Emily Greenwell, Connor Corns, Samantha Mitchell, Everly Mitchell, Peyton Houser, Austin Call, and Avery Call.

Darlene is survived by her sister, Bonnie Coffey; her two brothers, Steve (Linda) Hickerson, Gary (Ginger) Hickerson; her sister-in-law, Wilma Hickerson; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years Charles “Buddy” McIntyre; her brother, Scott Hickerson; her brother-in-law, Louis Coffey; and her son-in-law, Eddie Lee.

The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Friday March 15, 2024, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Robbie Corns and Mike Walton officiating.

Darlene will be laid to rest in Elizaville Cemetery.
