Harold Clayborne “Weird” Pollitt, 74, of Flemingsburg, passed away Friday, March 1, 2024, at the Lexington Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lexington.
Born in Maysville on November 12, 1949, his father was the late Raymond Harold Pollitt and his mother was the late Lena Mae Clark Pollitt.
Weird worked as a driver for Licking Valley CAP, maintenance for Wal-Mart for 14 years, and at Hinton Mills. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church. He loved woodworking and was a UK fan. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Connie Ravenscraft Pollitt; his four children, Clay Pollitt and his wife Julie, Jarrad Pollitt and his wife Sarah, Jessica Conrad and her husband Doug, and Steven Cooper; his nine grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Luke) Lawson, Sean Harvey, Xayne Conrad, Jace Conrad, Blake (Paige) Cannon, Daulton Pollitt, Mallory Gardner, Zaylee Ovington, and Jordan Pollitt. He is also survived by his two siblings, Jane Shindlebower-Mers and Winford (Cherri) Pollitt; and his cousin who was like a brother, Harry David Brewer.
In addition to his parents, Weird was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Winford and Elizabeth Ann Pollitt; and his uncle and aunt, Rev. Paul and Ann Brewer.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2024, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Manning officiating.
Weird will be laid to rest in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834 will be performing military rites.
Pallbearers include Clay Pollitt, Jarrad Pollitt, Don Mers, Daulton Pollitt, Jordan Pollitt, and Steve Wells. Honorary pallbearers include his grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at Boone-Nickell located at 150 West Water Street, Flemingsburg, Ky. 41041.
