Bro. Steve Hickerson Obituary

Bro. Steve Hickerson passed away Monday, October 21, 2019, at  the Hospice of Hope at Kenton Pointe.

Born in Fleming County on December 19, 1953, he was the son of the late William Leslie Hickerson and Carol D. Boling Hickerson.

An avid farmer, Bro. Steve worked in dairy cattle to support his family until starting Triple H Farms with his sons.  He was the senior pastor of the Family Worship Center, a church he began 30 years ago.  In 1993 he was ordained through the International Pentecostal Holiness Church (IPHC).  His Sunday morning radio program God’s Country on WFLE has aired for 30 years.  His radio, prison, and jail ministry helped spread a message of hope to those who might not otherwise hear it.  He was an active original board member of Ephesians 4 Network (E4N).  For 24 years he also worked as a school bus driver for Fleming County Schools.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda Helphenstine Hickerson; his sons, David and wife, Kim Hickerson, Kevin and wife, Becky Hickerson, and Travis and wife, Brandi Hickerson; his grandchildren, Stephen Tyler Hickerson, Tessa Renae (Justin) McCord, Haley Lynn Hickerson, Savannah Grace Hickerson, Samuel Dray Hickerson, and Gracie; and his great grandchild, Clayton Ronald McCord.  He is also survived by his siblings, Leslie Hickerson, Alberta Holland, and Marcella (Donnie) Haywood.

In addition to his mom and dad, Bro. Steve was preceded in death by his granddaughter, baby Grace; and his sister, Helen Haywood.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday, October 25, at the Family Worship Center with Bro. Jerry Boling and Pastor Steve Harn officiating.

Bro. Steve will be laid to rest in Fleming County Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m., Thursday night, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m., Friday at the church.

Pallbearers include Tyler Hickerson, Justin McCord, Jeff Haywood, Donnie Wayne Haywood, Rodney Haywood, and Chris Holland.  Honorary pallbearers include Wayne Hickerson, Barry Hickerson, Jason Hickerson, Bryan Ginter, William “Jay” Hickerson, Danny McIntyre, John Lee, and Jesse Harn.
