Carl Dennis Gates

Carl Dennis Gates, 74, of Flemingsburg, passed away Friday evening April 13, 2018, at UK Medical Center Hospice.

Carl was born November 19, 1943, to the late Carlie and Wanda Crain Gates.

Carl was retired from Fleming County Hospital where he had worked in the maintenance department for many years, and had also been a farmer.

Carl was known by many for his great sense of humor, storytelling and kindness. Carl never knew a stranger and was loved by many. He had a large circle of family that brought joy and happiness to his life.

Carl is survived by his sisters, Janet (Benny) Thompson and Debbie Henderson.  He is also survived by his beloved children, Chastity Thomas, Crystal (Garry) Saunders, and Kevin (Katherine) Beiland; his blessed grandchildren, Bryce “Brian” Beiland, Cassandra “Sissi” Blalock, Kaleb “Kalum” Beiland, Brandon “Brandy” Barnes, Christian “Chrisi” Foster, Lathan “Latham” Saunders, Adriannah “Adriannie” Saunders, Jazmine “Jabbi” Saunders, Jr. “Lil Bit” Saunders, Emerson “Eme” Beiland, Kade and Kira Ridenour; his precious great grandchildren, Lamonte “Damonte” Beiland, J.Z.  “John Henry” Beiland, Ean Beiland,  and Jaxton “Jax” Turner; his lifelong friend, Carolyn Satterly; and his many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his brothers, Phillip and Gary Gates; and his paternal grandmother, Lillie Gates.

At Carl’s request all services will be private at this time and a memorial service will be planned for a later date.
