James E. Fields, 87, passed away Friday, September 28, 2018.
He was born September 21, 1931, in Fleming County, the son of the late Means and Madolin Fields.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his in-laws, John and Dulcena Taylor, his sister, Bea (Fields) Dowd, and his grandson, Nicholas Jordan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Katherine T. Fields; his three children, Michael Fields (Lisa), Beverly Shoemaker (Jerry) and Cynthia Burns (Michael). He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Kerilyn Johnson (Dan), Michael Fields, Kristin Fields, MSG Timothy Groves, Sp. Ops US Army (Margo), SSGT Katherine Phibbs, USAF, and Kyle Phibbs; his six Great-Grandsons, Evan, Ames, Grant, James, Theodore, and Luke; his two brothers, Means Fields, Jr. (Nancye), Billy Fields (Cheryl); his two sisters, Shella Shireman (Gary) and Cheryl Hall (Mike); his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Woods; his brother-in-law, John R. Taylor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He proudly served his country in the United States National Guard during the Korean War. He was a 32nd degree Mason with the Masonic Lodge in Kentucky and Scottish Rite in Ohio. He worked numerous years with NCR in Dayton, Ohio and General Motors.
Graveside services will be held at Fleming County Cemetery on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at 11:00 a.m.
Arrangements are being handled by Boone-Nickell Funeral Home.
