James Edward “Jim” McVey, Sr., 84, of Flemingsburg, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at Fleming County Hospital.
Born on November 4, 1934, in Fleming County, he was the son of the late Chester Ham McVey and the late Mary S. McGlothlin McVey.
He worked in maintenance for Randall Manufacturing for 22 ½ years and was Fleming County Jailer from 1982 to 1986. He was of the Christian faith.
Jim is survived by his children, Joyce Richmond, Jerry McKee, Gary McKee and wife, Dianne, Mary Doyle and husband, Darrell, Norma Johnson, Joanna Smith and husband, Steve, and James “Jimmy” McVey, Jr., and wife, Denise; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several great, great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents Chester and Mary, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Reeves McVey; his son, Glenn McVey; his granddaughter, Becky Richmond; his son-in-law, Joe Richmond; and his daughter-in-law, Judith McKee.
Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, February 23, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Tony Conley officiating.
Jim will be laid to rest in Goddard Cemetery beside his wife Evelyn.
Pallbearers include Kenny Richmond, Brian McKee, Jeremy Johnson, Jonathon Johnson, Jimmy McVey, Joshua Smith, Zachary Smith, Hayden Hall, and Cody McVey. Honorary pallbearers include Darrell W. Doyle, Steve Smith, Anthony Parker, Danny Richmond, and Bill Conley.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.
