John Thomas Barton, 76, of Flemingsburg, passed away Friday, January 18, 2019, at his residence.
He was born in Fleming County on October 18, 1942, a son to the late John Samuel and Dorcas Helen Crump Barton.
John enjoyed attending the local senior Center and going to church. He was a member of the Bald Hill Tabernacle of God. He also enjoyed woodworking and being outdoors. A veteran, he proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He is survived by his two daughters, Kristal Humphries and husband Robert, Amy Reed and husband Donnie; his grandchildren, Quentin Humphries, Brandon Reed, and Hannah (Daniel) Harmon; his great grandsons, Owen Harmon and Isaac Harmon. He is also survived by his brother, Rick (Pam) Barton; his sisters, Mary Helen (Richard) Hamilton and Debbie (Steve) Curtis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joe Anne “Cricket” Alexander Barton; his infant son, John Thomas Barton, Jr.; and his brother, Lee Barton.
Service will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, January 22nd, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Reed officiating.
John will be laid to rest in Wedonia Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
