Lucian E. “Sam” Ramey, 74, of Hillsboro, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at his residence.
Born on February 14, 1945, in Mason County, he was the son of the late Estill W. Ramey and the late Beth Eula Basford Ramey.
For 20 years Sam was an ironworker with Union No. 372 in Cincinnati and Union No. 44 in Hebron. He also was a farmer who worked as a craftsman in leather goods and knife works. He was a member of the Hillsboro Methodist Church.
Sam is survived by his son, Mark Ramey; his grandson, Seth Ramey; the mother of his son, Janice (Charles) Crump; and his sisters, Bertie Ann (Charlie) Cooper and Lou Ellen Johnson. His family would like to extend a special thanks to his two close friends, Branden Turner and Marvin Horsley, for their help and friendship.
In addition to his parents Estill and Eula, Sam was preceded in death by his siblings, Dorothy Lee Ramey, Estill Wade Ramey, Jr., and Charles Kenneth “Charlie” Ramey.
Service will begin at 1 p.m., Saturday, December 7, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Jamie Collinsworth and Topper Crump officiating.
Sam will be laid to rest in Hillsboro Cemetery.
Visitation will be 11 a.m., until the hour of service, Saturday, at the funeral home.
