Rickey Marshall Obituary

Rickey Lane Marshall, 64, of Flemingsburg passed away Friday, October 26, 2018, at Saint Joseph Hospital in Mt. Sterling, after battling an extended illness.

Rickey was born 12/12/53, in Flemingsburg, KY, the son of the late Chester Irvin Marshall and the late Helen Beckett Marshall Pendland.

Rickey had worked at White’s Department store as the manager in Flemingsburg. He was a carpenter, a bus driver for Licking Valley Head Start for many years (where he drove all his girls to school), and a janitor for the Fleming County Schools.  He took pride in his landscaping business, and was a maintenance man at the Fleming County Public Library. He was a man of many talents.  As his girls would always say, “Dad can fix and do anything”.  He was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Flemingsburg.  Rickey enjoyed every Sunday and Thursday night when all of his girls would come over for family night.  He enjoyed playing cornhole, horseshoes, the guitar, and sports with his son-in-laws.  He was an avid UK basketball fan. Rickey enjoyed life, and leaves behind many friends.

Rickey is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Melissa Jolly Marshall; four daughters, Lacy (Ricky) Moore of Carlisle KY, Sara Marshall (Kyle Watson), Katie (Todd) Hickerson, Kala Marshall (Brandon English) all of Flemingsburg, KY. Rickey also leaves behind two grandchildren he thought the world of, Hunter Moore of Carlisle, KY and Gracie Hickerson of Flemingsburg, KY. They were “Paps” world.  He also had two step grandchildren, Matthew Hickerson, and Keigan English.  He is also survived by one very special nephew, Matthew Hopper of Flemingsburg, KY; his three brothers, Randy JJ (Mona) Marshall, Rex (Carol) Marshall, Kenny Marshall, all of Flemingsburg, KY; his four sisters, Betty (Robin) Carpenter of Vanceburg, KY, Joanie (Bobby) Underwood, Dana (Raymond) Evans, and Linda Hopper all of Flemingsburg, KY; his sisters-in-law, Vicie Marshall, Barbara Marshall, and Angie Marshall; along with several nieces and nephews he dearly loved.
