Stanley Howard Martin, 73, of Maysville, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2019, at the Hospice of Hope in Maysville.
Born in Maysville on November 19, 1945, he was the son of the late Stanley B. Martin and Dorothy Nash Martin.
Stanley served his country in the United State Army/Army Reserves beginning in July 1966. He served in Honduras, St. Kits, Luxembourg, and Germany. In 1996 he would retire with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4. He was a member of the American Legion #5 of Flemingsburg. He was also a member of the Livestock Improvement Association as well as the Kentucky Cattleman Association. For 34 years, Stanley worked for the Highway Dept inspecting bridges and roads. He also owned and worked the family farm for over 30 years, raising tobacco and cattle. He was a member of the Antioch Church of Christ.
He is survived by his children, Teri (Dan) Reeder and Jeff (Teresa) Martin; his grandchildren, Zachary Reeder, Winston Reeder, and Chad Martin; the mother of his children, Nellie Simmons Martin; his sisters, Hope (Kenny) Mers, Penny (Dale) Hickman, and Sandra (Mike) Curtis; and his nephews and nieces, Matt Mers, Angie Mineer, Jennifer Curtis, Amanda Grooms, and Jeremy Hickman.
Service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 30, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Willie Martin officiating.
Stanley will be laid to rest in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834.
Pallbearers include Matt Mers, Chad Martin, Zach Reeder, Winston Reeder, Bob Reeves, Rob Bailey, Furman Perkins, and Barry Million.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
