Sylvia McIntyre Hawkins, 62, of Flemingsburg, passed away Monday, July 29, 2019, at Fleming County Hospital.
Born in Maysville on March 26, 1957, she was the daughter of Sue Fawns McIntyre and the late Kenneth C. McIntyre.
Sylvia was a retired teacher at Flemingsburg Elementary. She was a member of the Fleming County Education Association and the Kentucky Education Association. She was a member of New Life Church of Christ.
Sylvia is survived by her husband of 44 years, Thomy Hawkins; her daughter, Roxanne (Louie) Wright of Louisville; her grandson, Keller Wright; her mother Sue McIntyre; her sister, Linda Cooper of Poplar Plains; and her sister, Kennetha (Randy) Vance of Mount Sterling. She is also survived by her in-laws, Mike and Julie, and David and Pam; a very special friend, Jill Crowe; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father Kenneth, she was preceded in death by her son, Luke Hawkins.
A celebration of Sylvia’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 1, at New Life Church of Christ with Bro. Darren Fizer and Bro. Bill Teegarden officiating.
Sylvia will be laid to rest in Elizaville Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 31, from 5 – 8 p.m. at the church located at 374 Helena Road, Flemingsburg, KY 41041.
