William Thorton “Billy” Hord, 92, of Flemingsburg, passed away Monday, August 26, 2019, at his residence. He was the widower of Jacquelyn Ann Patterson “Jackie” Hord.
Born in Lewis County on August 10, 1927, he was the son of the late Charles Addison Hord and Lillabelle Reeder Hord.
Billy was a lifelong farmer, raising beef and dairy cattle along with raising tobacco and other crops. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Galilee Christian Church.
He is survived by his four sons, Charlie Hord, William Dale (Penny) Hord, Bradley (Angela) Hord, and Jeffery (Ann) Hord; his 13 grandchildren, Casey, Rusty, April, Erica, Scott, Perry, Molly, Kurt, Landon, Amanda, Ashley, Willie, and Kyle; his seven great grandchildren, Noah, Addison, Jasmine, Caraline, Raylann, Anders, and Clayton Dale.
In addition to his parents, and his wife Jackie he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Hord; and his five sisters, Barbara Breeze, Mildred Thomas, Berdina Shaw, Emma Grace Deaner, and Lucille Myers.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Friday, August 30, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Phil Cropper officiating.
Billy will be laid to rest in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Military rites will be performed by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834.
Pallbearers include Ronnie Hord, Ricky Hord, Bill Breeze, Gary Breeze, Johnny Hord, and Fred Thomas. Honorary pallbearers include his 13 grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
