Wilma Joyce Goodpaster Snedegar, 82, of Flemingsburg, passed away Monday, July 1, 2019, at Saint Joseph East in Lexington. She was the widow of Charles A. “Jabby” Snedegar.
Born in Owingsville on March 3, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Omar Banks Goodpaster and the late Grace Coyle Goodpaster.
Wilma was a devoted mother, grandmother, wife and sister. She was of the Christian faith. She was an avid Big Blue Nation fan and followed her beloved Kentucky Wildcats always. Wilma was straight forward, straight shooting - she told you what she felt. She was an educator; you learned something from her every time you talked with her. She will be remembered as the lady who had the pet skunks. She worked in Fleming County Schools as a substitute teacher and retired from the Department of State Highway. She worked as a cashier at Jerry’s IGA and as a florist in Pots-N-Petals. She loved making floral arrangements, and working puzzles of any kind – she was a Sudoku wizard.
She is survived by her children, Deb Weaver of Coraopolis, PA, Tim Snedegar of Mt. Sterling, and Mark Snedegar of Flemingsburg; her grandchildren, Chad Snedegar, Matthew Snedegar, Dustin Weaver, Alexa Hinson and Braxton Snedegar; her special niece, Grace Ann Fleming and her special little Shorkie baby, Precious; and several friends and extended family members in both Fleming and Bath County.
In addition to her husband Jabby and her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Bruce Snedegar; her brother, Kenneth Goodpaster and his wife, Ruth; and a son-in-law, Van Weaver.
Service will be 4 p.m., Sunday, July 7, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Darrell Marshall and Terry Carpenter officiating.
Wilma will be laid to rest at a later date.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m., Sunday at Boone-Nickell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to St. Jude (online at www.stjude.org/donate) and/or the local police and first responders of Fleming County by doing a good deed like paying for a meal when you see them out.
