Alberta R. "Bertie" Ishmael, 84, of Flemingsburg, passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 at Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was the widow of Charles Maxwell Ishmael.

Bertie was born on May 7, 1931 in Fleming County to the late John Morton and Lillie Mae Turner Ramey.

She liked to read, do puzzle books, sew, cook and make candy. She won several ribbons at the fair for gardening. She attended the Senior Citizens Center and was a member of the Tilton Christian Church.

She is survived by her sons, Randy (Miriam) Ishmael of Flemingsburg and Charles "Eddie" (Angela) Ishmael of Tilton; grandchildren, Bryan (Amber) Ishmael, Ben (Kathy) Ishmael, Blake Ishmael and Casey Ishmael; great grandchildren, Andrew Roberts, Brynlee, Tate, Karter, Kasen and Kashton Ishmael; brother, Kenneth "Buster" (Mae) Ramey and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

In addition to her husband Charles and her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Michele Planck; brothers, Warren Lee, Alvin, Estill, and Stanley; sister, Wilma Dailey; and a special niece, Rosemary Ishmael.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m., Friday, March 11, 2016 at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Elgin Emmons officiating. Burial will follow in Fleming County Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Ishmael, Ben Ishmael, Ted Ramey, Kenny Wade Ramey, Matthew McCord and Blake Ishmael. Honorary pallbearers will be Jenna Fields, Anita Masters, Amber Ishmael, Kelli Sparks, Casey Ishmael and Kathy Ishmael.
