Obituary

Aleta Vice Smith, 79, of Flemingsburg, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at her residence.


Born in Fleming County on September 9, 1945, Aleta was the daughter of the late Clyde Vice and the late Ruby Lee Harmon Vice.


Aleta had worked for U. S. Shoe and Tinnerman in Flemingsburg as well as being a caregiver and housekeeper for over 40 plus years.  She loved her family and visiting with her "Senior Citizen" friends.  She was a collector of Pepsi memorabilia and enjoyed sewing and keeping her house and yard just right. Aleta was a member of the Tilton Methodist Church.


Aleta is survived by her two daughters, Robyn Denise Smith Ramey and Daphanie Carol (husband Craig) Smith; her four grandsons, Ethan Chase Ramey (Nicole Miracle), Hayden Jacob (wife Sarah) Smith, Colton Blake Ramey (Haley Porter), and Kyler Douglas (wife Mollie) Smith; and her two great grandchildren, Owen Jacob Smith and Emma Elizabeth Smith.  She is also survived by her two sisters, Frances Louise Dailey and Daisy Lee Stanfield; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.


In addition to her mother Ruby and her father Clyde, Aleta was preceded in death by the father of her daughters, John Albert Smith; her four brothers, Everett Thomas Vice, Edward Burton Vice, Jerome Douglas Vice, and Denny Ray Vice; Chase and Colton's father, James Lewis "Jimmy" Ramey; and her two brothers-in-law, Reynolds Ronnie Dailey and Marvin Stanfield.


The funeral service for Aleta will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Sister Gail Skaggs officiating.


Aleta will be laid to rest in Longview Cemetery.


Pallbearers include Chase Ramey, Hayden Smith, Kyler Smith, Colton Ramey, Craig Smith, and Owen Smith.


Honorary pallbearers include Rick Dailey, Chris Stanfield, Kent Stanfield, Jason Vice, Matt Vice, and Amber Barker.


Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, August 29, at Boone-Nickell located at 150 West Water Street in Flemingsburg.
