Alice Litton passed away peacefully on July 9, 2015, surrounded by family. Alice was the widow of James Ray Litton who passed in 2004 after 62 years of marriage. She is survived by children Ronald Ray Litton (Mary Jo) of Flemingsburg, and James Richard "Rick" (Sharon) Litton of Maysville also surviving are six grandchildren: Sue Anne (Lee) Bryant, Ron Litton Jr.(Marsha), Shannon Litton , Jenifer (Chris) Mitchell and Trey Litton (Rebecca) Lorrie (Tom) Plummer, Chancellor Dugan, and six great grandchildren: Tyler Bryant, Tanner Bryant, Sierra Plummer, Megan Mitchell, Maria Mitchell and James David Litton.
Alice was the eldest of ten children born to Leslie and Bessie Fleming Emmons. Born in Mt Carmel KY. She was preceded in death by siblings Mary Christina Booton (Jim), John Emmons (Pauline), Noel Emmons, Bob Emmons (Juanita), and Carey Emmons (Suzanne). Sisters surviving are Ann M. Curtis (Leslie), Louisa Mathis ( Ross), Maxine Rankin (Jack), and Winona Reeder (Bill).
Alice was a graduate of Fleming County High School and McCann Business School, and Ford Motor Company Educational Institute. Alice learned her hospitality skills working at the Bon Ton Restaurant in her early years. Later she worked as a bookkeeper for Cheap Chevrolet until she and Ray opened Litton Ford Sales. Alice was a vital part of the family business. Alice was a loyal member of the Flemingsburg United Methodist Church joining the church in 1946, and active in the local, District and Conference activities. Her family enjoyed many holidays and birthdays seated in her dining room with everyone's favorite foods prepared for their enjoyment by Alice, who remained an excellent cook into her 90's. She loved working in her flower garden as long as she was able. She was a member of the William Dudley Chapter of DAR.
Visitation will be held at Flemingsburg First United Methodist Church on Sunday, July 12, 2015, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.
Visitation will also be held prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service on Monday, July 13, 2015, also at the church. Pastor Susan Elkow and the Rev Ben Cain will be officiating.
