Obituary

Amanda Lachelle Highfield, 38, of Flemingsburg, passed away early Thursday morning, April 23, 2026, at her residence, with her family by her side.

Born in Maysville on October 3, 1987, her mother is Cathy Cox Kitchen and her father was the late Randy Lee Kitchen.

Amanda was a vital part of the many lives she touched as an educator through the Fleming County School System. As Mrs. Highfield, she was a math and science teacher at Simons Middle School. “Mrs. Highfield loved teaching. More importantly, she loved her students. She built relationships that went beyond the classroom, creating an environment where students felt seen, supported, and encouraged to keep going even when things were hard. Her impact will live on through the countless students she inspired and the colleagues she worked alongside. Mrs. Highfield touched the lives of so many students, which is a lasting testament to the kind of person and educator she was.” As Amanda viewed her teaching, she needed the students as much they needed her. She was a member of the Mount Carmel Christian Church. She was an avid Bingo player on Bingo night at the Double S Entertainment for the Cancer Care Club.

She is survived by her mother Cathy; her husband, Jamie Highfield; her nine children, Jordyn Simmons, Allisyn Highfield, Addisyn Highfield, Paetyn Highfield, Madilyn Highfield, Harley Allen, Aaron Allen, Shelby Highfield, and Hayley Fields. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren, Harper Flannery, Lincoln Cropper, Walker Cropper, Jaxon Allen, Stetson Dailey, Isla Allen, Holden Allen, Jace Fields, Graysen Fields, Robert Taylor Jr., Weston Fields, and Ava Fields. In addition, she is survived by her three siblings, Seph Allen, Heather Fearin, and Adam Fearin; along with many extended family members and friends.

In addition to her father Randy, Amanda is being welcomed into Heaven by her brother, Josh Fearin; her aunt, Linda Bussell; her uncle, Larry Fearin; her Pop and Granny Fearin; and her paternal grandparents, Willie Sr. and Geneva Kitchen.

The funeral service will begin at 7 p.m., Monday, April 27, 2026, in the gymnasium of Simons Middle School, with Bro. Travis Roberts officiating.

Amanda will be laid to rest in Mount Carmel Cemetery on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 11 a.m. Those wishing to drive in procession to the cemetery will need to be lined up at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home between 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
