Audie Jordan, 98, of Flemingsburg, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home.
Audie was born in Wallingford, KY on December 8, 1915 to the late Bona L. and Birtha Hitch Jordan.
Audie was a retired self-employed fence builder in the community. In his earlier years, Audie had worked at for a contractor building roads in the region. He was a veteran of the US Army and proudly served his country during WWII. He was avid fisherman and gardener. Audie was a gifted musician and enjoyed entertaining others by playing country and bluegrass music on his guitar.
Audie was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Crawford Jordan in 1992; son Eldon "Jay" Jordan in 2007; daughter Judy Layne Jordan in 1949; 3 sisters Kenzie Lee, Lodema Jordan and Verna Rigdon; 3 brothers Obal, Elva and Dinzill Jordan.
He is survived by his step-son Stanley (Sandy) Gulley Jr. of Maysville, KY; daughter-in-law, Katie Jordan of Troy, OH; 2 grandchildren Luke (Elisabeth) Jordan of Enon, OH and Lisa (David) Hook of Maysville, KY; 2 step grandchildren Asher Bailey of New York, NY and Sarah Bailey of San Francisco, CA; 5 great grandchildren Jarrod Gulley, Jessica Hook, Ethan Jordan, Selah Jordan and Levi Jordan; 4 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friend Gladys Staggs.
Funeral services will be at 2 PM Saturday July 26, 2014 at Boone - Nickell Funeral Home with Rev. George Burns Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in May's Lick Cemetery with military honors performed by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834. Visitation will be after Noon on Saturday at the funeral home.
Luke Jordan, David Hook, Jarrod Gulley, Mike Lovelace, Ashley Rigdon and Eric Mitchell will serve as pallbearers.
