Barber Garrett "Bob" Hester, 83, of Wallingford, passed away suddenly Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016, at his home.

He was born June 7, 1932, on Hester Ridge in Fleming County, the son of the late Evan and Dora Dunaway Hester.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Sipple Hester, in 2006.

He was a lifelong farmer who enjoyed Reds baseball, UK basketball and wrestling. He was known as a go-getter who enjoyed talking to everyone he met.

Mr. Hester is survived by his two sons, Charles (Judy) Litzler of Flemingsburg, and Dewey (Elsie) Gulley of Wallingford; four grandchildren, Kevin (Leslie) Litzler, Tracey (Dustin Hawkins) Litzler, and Travis (Dana) Litzler, all of Fleming County, and Alison Gulley of Midway; eight great-grandchildren, Shelby, Sadie, Brook, Creighton, Tritt and Cash Litzler, Joe McCord and Caleb Mallory; sister, Betty (Charles) Carver of Wallingford; and also several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Glenn Hester, Doug Hester, and Eulene Hester Thomas.

Services will begin at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, at the Ramey's Chapel United Methodist Church in Fleming County, with Rev. Jesse Hickerson Jr. officiating.

Burial will be in Muses Mills Cemetery.

Visitation is at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday, 7 a.m. - 9 a.m Wednesday at the funeral home and 11 -1 p.m. at church.

Kevin Litzler, Travis Litzler, Charles Carver, Dustin Hawkins, Mike Brown, Caleb Mallory, Creighton Litzler, Joe McCord and Jackie Smalley will serve as pallbearers. Johnny Niece will be an Honorary pallbearer.
