Obituary

Bernita Vice Porter, 89, of Lexington, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the UK Medical Center.


Born in Hillsboro on March 8, 1934, her parents were the late Lloyd Vice and the late Frances Hurst Vice.


Bernita enjoyed staying close to her Hillsboro friends and relatives as well as gardening, square dancing, and country music.  She was a member of the Flemingsburg Christian Church.


Bernita is survived by her two daughters, Jolene Dawkins and Lynna (April Bock) Porter; her three grandchildren, Kelly (Patrick) Hawthorne, Tyler (Kelly) Street, and Kristin (Richy) Thompson; and seven great grandchildren.


In addition to her parents Lloyd and Frances, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Eugenia Witt; and her four siblings, Neolin "Toad" Vice, Wendell Vice, Mary Lloyd Crain, and Loretta Justice.


The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Rev. Marty Voiers officiating.


Bernita will be privately laid to rest in Fleming County Cemetery.


Visitation will be 1 p.m., until the hour of service at 2 p.m., Tuesday, at Boone-Nickell located at 150 West Water Street, Flemingsburg, Ky. 41041.
