Obituary

Bertha Florence Bretz Black, 91, of Maysville, passed away at her residence on Sunday, July 31, 2016. She was the widow of Harry Ward Black.

Born in Lewis County on November 18, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Bretz and the late Jeanette Thompson Bretz.

Bertha was a loving wife, grandmother, sister and homemaker. For 9 years she worked for U. S. Shoe Factory in Flemingsburg. She was a member of the Mount Carmel Christian Church.

Besides her parents and Harry, her husband of 72 years, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harry Douglas Bretz; and a sister, Emma Bloomfield.

Survivors include her daughter, June (Dave) Grayson; grandsons, Shane Grayson and Izzy Grayson; four great grandchildren; brother, Elmer Bretz; and a brother-in-law, Clyde Black.

Graveside services will be conducted at 12 p.m., Thursday, August 4, 2016, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Pastor Steve Singer will be officiating.
