Obituary

William Joseph "Bill" Conley, 82, of Flemingsburg, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024, at his residence.


Born in Mason County on February 16, 1942, he was the son of the late Joseph L. Conley and the late Inez Moore Conley.


Bill retired from U. S. Shoe Factory after 33 years of service. After retirement he went to work as an escort driver for mobile home transport.  In his free time, Bill enjoyed being outdoors where he loved to fish and hunt, exploring the woods for ginseng and mushrooms.  He loved the Cincinnati Reds, UK Basketball, NASCAR, and a good game of Rook.  Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army, serving in Vietnam.  He received two Purple Hearts for his service.


Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Reeves Conley; his three children, William "Tony" Conley of Lexington, Angela Gail Bentley and husband Brandon of Pittsburgh, Penn., and Joey Conley of Flemingsburg; his eight grandchildren, Shay'la, Abraham, Hannah, Marah, Leah, Chanah, Aislinn, and Erelah; and one great grandchild on the way.  He is also survived by five of his siblings, Glenn Martin Conley and wife Kay, Danny Allen Conley and wife Mary, Jerry "Mick" Conley, Karen Dunaway and husband Joel, and Freida Ann Hedrick.


In addition to his father Joseph and his mother Inez, Bill was preceded in death by two of his siblings, Floyd Thomas Conley and Jack Conley; and his daughter-in-law, Sonya Conley.


The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Pastor Johnny Conley officiating.


Bill will be laid to rest in Goddard Cemetery.


W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834 will be performing military rites.


Pallbearers include Bobby Conley, Adam Conley, Cody Dunaway, Robbie Conn, Zeke Conn, Terrance Jackson, Steve Smith, and Woodie Reeves.


Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, at Boone-Nickell located at 150 West Water Street, Flemingsburg, Ky. 41041.
