George Earl "Billy" Elam, 62, of Flemingsburg, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2025, at UK Chandler Medical Center, with all of his family by his side.

Born in Poplarville, Ky. on December 15, 1962, Billy was the son of the late Earl Denton Elam and the late Anna Marie Clontz Elam.

For nine years Billy worked at Kentucky Textiles, then starting Handy Elam Home Improvements where he would work with his handy sidekick, Ryder.  He loved camping, fishing, and playing cards with his family.

Billy is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sharon Handy Elam; their two daughters, Billie Jo Kegley and Stephanie (J.J.) Hardin; their seven grandchildren, Dalton Kegley, Cody Kegley, Hunter Cordray, Tyler Hardin, Carson Hardin, Tanner Hardin, and Olivia Hardin.  He is also survived by two of his siblings, Jeffrey Elam (Sharon) of Cincinnati and Regina Baker (Scott) of Somerset; along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many special friends.

In addition to his mother Anna Marie and his father Earl, Billy was preceded in death by his sister, Mertie Vela Elam; his mother-in-law, Lillie Belle Allen; and his fathers-in-law, Kenny Allen, Sr., and Hobert Thomas Handy.

The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Friday, April 18, 2025, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Pastor Herbie Stallard officiating.

Billy will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park.

Pallbearers include his seven grandchildren.  Honorary pallbearers include Timmy Roe, J. R. Allen, J.J. Hardin, Randy White, Darrell Caldwell, and Bryan Bradley.

Visitation will be 11 a.m., until the hour of service at 1 p.m., Friday, at Boone-Nickell located at 150 West Water Street, Flemingsburg, Ky. 41041.
