William C. "Billy" Snedegar, 87, of Lexington, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022, at UK Medical Center.
Born in Bath County on November 16, 1934, his father was the late Charles Coburn Snedegar and his mother was the late Lucille Manley Snedegar.
Billy was employed at W. T. Grant, a manager for Ben Franklin in Lexington, and a retired stock room manager for J. C. Penney. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He is survived by his brother, Thomas Snedegar and wife Barbara of Bethel, Ohio; his four nieces, Carla Shields, Tamme Stoops, Cliftina McGuffey and husband Eric, Amie Tiemeyer and husband Tim; several other nieces; his nephew, Jason Snedegar; several other nephews; his great nieces, Karissa Wallingford; along with several other great nieces; his great nephews, Corey Shields and Uriah Stoops; along with several other great nephews; his sister-in-law, Linda Snedegar; and extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four of his siblings, Louise McCord, Maryrene Hampton, Charles R. Snedegar, and Ronald E. Snedegar; his nephew, Mitchell Shields; and his brother-in-law, Clifton McCord.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Friday, October 21, 2022, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Vise officiating
Billy will be laid to rest in Elizaville Cemetery.
W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834 will be performing military rites.
Pallbearers include Corey Shields, Braden Wallingford, Dave Clark, and Tony O'Nan. Honorary pallbearers include Uriah Stoops, Olivia Tiemeyer, Owen Tiemeyer, Emma Shields, Isaiah Shields, Corey Snedegar, Trevor Snedegar, Daphne Whitson, Brad Snedegar, Jeff Snedegar, and Lance Snedegar.
Visitation will be 12 p.m., until the hour of service at 1 p.m., Friday, at Boone-Nickell.
