To the great sorrow of those who knew and loved him, John Robert "Bob" Reeves, Sr. died peacefully on Saturday, February 18, 2023.   He was 70 years old.

A beloved father, grandfather, and friend, Bob served 27 years in the Army Reserves and retired from Emerson Power Transmission after 41 years. He was a member of the W. N. Fant  American Legion Post #5, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Fleming Lodge #30, the I.O.O. F DeKalb Lodge #12,  and an all-around handy man/hard worker.

Although this loss has left his family with a somber void, Bob's life was filled with shared stories, big laughs, jobs well done, and the wisdom of experience.   Among his many admirable and amusing qualities, the foremost was honesty. This characteristic often showed through his recollections and observations so powerfully that his rapt, bemused (or cringing) listeners would remark, "he has no filter."

Born to the late Kelly and Alma Emmons Reeves on Mt. Hope Road in Poplar Plains, Ky., Bob grew up with four siblings, Bruce Reeves (Sherry Bocook), the late James Reeves (Mary Beth Reeves), Joyce Curtis (John Duncan), and Donnie Reeves. He is survived by his four children, Shannon (Brad) Dean, Jennifer Reeves (Eston Adams), John (Christy) Reeves, Jr., and Jeremy Reeves. Bob is also survived by 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home in Flemingsburg.

Bob will be laid to rest in Goddard Cemetery.

W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834 will be performing military rites.

Pallbearers include Doug Heim, Ferman Perkins, James Reeves, Jerry Hafer, Tyler Planck, and Eston Adams.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Friday, February 24, at Boone-Nickell.
