Brenda Walker Hill, 83, of Flemingsburg, passed away Friday, August 1, 2025, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. She was the widow of Kenneth Hill.
Born in Flemingsburg on November 5, 1941, Brenda was the daughter of the late Cleveland Alexander "Chubby" Walker and the late Emma Ruth Muse Walker.
In the early 1960s Brenda worked in the office of Dr. Gehring and Dr. Fidler as a medical assistant alongside her friend, Peggy Planck. By 1972 she graduated nursing school, becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and worked at the nursing home in Morehead. By the mid to late seventies she was working at Fleming County Hospital and for a short time Harrison County Hospital in Cynthiana. Becoming a nurse was one of the proudest achievements of her life and she was extremely proud that her oldest son followed his path to become an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
Brenda is survived by two of her sons, Alan Keith Sloas and wife Mary of Jackson, Ky. and Gregory Dean Sloas of Flemingsburg; her grandson, Travis Sloas and wife Nikki; her granddaughter, Brittany Keith and husband Drew; and her four great grandchildren, Landen, Carter, Phoenix, and Iris; and her fifth great grandchild born a few days after her death, Oliver. She is also survived by her four siblings, Lynda Hinton, Gerald Walker, Jim Walker and wife Donna, and Peggy Vice and husband Bobby Joe. She is also survived by three of her stepchildren and their families, Melanie, Brent, and Shauna. She was very thankful for the presence, support, and conversation provided by two special women, Rita and Nautica; and last but not least, her cat, Lily.
In addition to Kenneth, her husband of 45 years who passed in 2020, her mother Ruth in 2003, and her father Chubby in 1977; Brenda was preceded in death by her son, Kendall Lee Sloas in 2006; her stepdaughter, Amy in 2003; and her faithful dog, Molly in early 2025.
Per her wishes Brenda was cremated and will be laid to rest with her husband in Sunset Memorial Park.
