Obituary

Calbert Prather, 92, of Flemingsburg passed away peacefully at his daughter's home on Sunday, December 14th in Lexington, KY.

Calbert was born April 6, 1922 in Flemingsburg, KY to the late George Early and Elizabeth Carr Prather.

Calbert was a retired from the Fleming County Packing where he had been a meat cutter for many years. He served as Private 1st class from 1943-1946. He was a driver for the Red Ball Express operation (convoy) in World War II. In this time he was able to see Europe. He was an avid Reds Fan, so much so that he passed on the love to younger generations. He used to listen to the Reds on the radio when he was a young boy. He accepted Christ at an early age at Strawberry United Methodist Church which was founded by his grandfather, the late Robert Carr. Everyone who met him loved him easily with his kind spirit and gentle nature.

Calbert leaves behind loving memories to 2 children Elizabeth Ann Prather and William Young; granddaughters Jasmine Prather & Valerie Harris Ward; grandsons Toby Harris, William Young Jr., Jeff Young & Jason Young; 8 great grandchildren; host of nieces and nephews and numerous friends/

He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Prather in 1962, daughter Arizona Young Harris; siblings Lake Taylor, Allie Taylor, Frank Taylor, and Robert "Marion" Prather; sisters, Annie Lee Taylor & Ruby Brandy.

Funeral service will be at 1 PM Monday December 22, 2014 at Boone - Nickell Funeral Home with Rev. James Turley officiating. Burial will be in Fleming County Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 - 1 PM Monday at the funeral home.

Newell Brandy, Vincent Brandy, William Young, Jr, Toby Harris, Jason Young, Dave Ward, Monty Young and Robert Ball will serve has pallbearers

Honorary Pall Bearers will be Allie Jones, HP Graham, Jeff Young
