Carol F. Barker, 63, of Flemingsburg, passed away Monday, October 19, 2015, at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe after an extended illness.
She was born Jan 26, 1952, in Fleming County to the late James and Loval Cox Barker.
Carol was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She was a longtime member of the Flemingsburg First United Methodist Church, and sang in the church choir and was a faithful member of the Seeker's Sunday School Class and several church committees. Carol was retired from Hillsboro Elementary this past year where she had been a teacher's aide for the past 28 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Kelly (John) Overstreet of Mt. Sterling; one grandson, Gaerik C. Overstreet; three sisters, Phyllis (James) Harmon, Rita (Terry) Carpenter, Bonnie (Roger) Hester, all of Flemingsburg. She is also survived by two brothers, Bill Barker of Wallingford and Jon (Pam) Barker of Clarksville, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews; a special friend for over 50 years, Mary Marshall Cooper.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Roger, Garry and Bob Barker.
Services will begin at 1 p.m., Thursday, October 22, 2015, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with the Rev. Ben Cain and Pastor Gail Skaggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Fleming County Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 7 a.m. until the hour of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Care Club (PO Box 189, Flemingsburg, KY 41041).
