Obituary

Charles L. "Charlie" Hinton, 69, of Flemingsburg, KY passed away Wednesday April 9, 2014 at his home.


Charlie was born November 4, 1944 in Rome, New York to Charles Owen and Dorothy Besock Hinton.


Charlie was a veteran of the US Air Force being discharged as a staff sergeant and retired from the US Army Reserves. Charlie was retired from the Department of Defense as an explosives operator at the Bluegrass Army Depot in Richmond, KY. Charlie was a long time member of the W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5, Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834 and Fishers of Men Fishing Club.


Survivors include his wife Ida Story Hinton; daughters Leigh Ann (Robbie) Earlywine and Dee Dee (Bob) Calvert; grandchildren Whitney Farrar, Reagan Earlywine and Laken Calvert; great grandson Jacob Owen Farrar; sisters Bonnie (Dallas) Tomlin, Ruth Ann (David) Hamilton, Judy (Rick) Wilson and Glenda Blanchard; his dog and longtime companion Hank and best friend Donnie Carpenter.


He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Michael Story, granddaughter Lindsey Calvert and a brother Clester Hinton.


Funeral services will be at 1 PM Saturday April 12, 2014 at Boone – Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Little, Bro Franklin Rose and Mark Dehart officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery with military honors performed by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834. Visitation will be 5 – 9 PM Friday at the funeral home.


Donnie Carpenter, Bill Watkins, Dr. Sam Gehring, Tommy Carpenter, Larry Foxworthy, Charlie Crump, Kenny Lee and Phillip Lee will serve as pallbearers.
