Chester Allen "Al" Back, Sr., of Lehigh Acres, Florida, formerly of Fleming County, passed away Friday, January 1, 2016.

Born June 11, 1945, in Goddard, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Henry Harold an Ethel F. Dixon Back.

Al worked for 25 years in Flemingsburg and retired as a trouble supervisor for GTE in Lexington, Ky. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Sergeant, one of his fondest memories was serving as security during the 1964 Alaska earthquake. This was the largest earthquake to ever hit North America at that time.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Hilterbrand Back; son, Chester Allen Back, Jr. (Stacie) of Nicholasville, Ky.; grandchildren, Ryan, Brandon and Cameron Back; brother, Robert R. Back (Sharon) of New Port Richey, Fl.; sister, Doris I. Jones of Prattville, Al.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, John M. Back, James "Ike" Isaac Back, Harold Back, Frank O. Back, Edward Gatewood Back, Jackie Linville and two infant sisters, Dixie M. Back and Nora R. Back.

Services will begin at 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with the Rev. Peter Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the hour of service on Thursday. Military rites will be performed by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834.
