October 8, 1947 – January 11, 2026
David Meadows, 78, of Davenport, Florida, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2026, at George C. Forsythe Hospice House in Auburndale, Fla. He was the widower of Esther L. Kuno Meadows.
Born in Falmouth, Ky. on October 8, 1947, David was the son of the late Harlan D. Meadows and the late Laura B. Johnson Meadows.
David worked for General Motors (GM) in Moraine, Ohio for 30 years. For 16 years he was a union representative for GM Local#801. He had a part-time job working at Winn-Dixie in Port Charlotte on Kings Highway. He was also the vice president of the Local #375 Ushers Union in Cincinnati, ushering for the Cincinnati Reds & Bengals and also for the Baltimore Orioles in Sarasota, Fla. He enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR races and his favorite drivers were Dale Earnhardt and #88 Dale Earnhardt Jr. He proudly served in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge in 1968.
David is survived by his daughter, Patty Hanson; his five grandchildren, Jesse Wesseler, Matthew Alexander, Emily Alexander, Piper Hanson, and Mya Hanson; along with many extended family members and friends.
In addition to his wife Esther who passed in 2011; his mother Laura; his father Harlan; David was preceded in death by his daughter, Dora Alexander; his six siblings, Phyllis Reed, Glendora Saunders, "Bud" Meadows, Alva Meadows, Sue McGlone, and Carl Willoughby Meadows. He was also preceded by his son-in-law, Brian Hanson; his brother-in-law, Reno McGlone; his brother-in-law who was like a father, Reeves Saunders; and his just like a brother, Lonnie Saunders.
The funeral service for David will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 17, 2025, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Howard officiating.
David will be laid to rest in Elizaville Cemetery.
Pallbearers include William Hendrix, John E. Hendrix, Kelly Grannis, Mike Bradford, and Jacob Hesler.
Visitation will be 10 a.m., until the hour of service at 11 a.m., at Boone-Nickell located at 150 West Water Street in Flemingsburg.
