Deborah Jo Lightner, 66, of Lexington, passed away Monday, October 21, 2024, at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born in Oak Knoll, Minnesota on July 18, 1958, her father was the late Oliver George Gray and her mother was the late Virginia Rose Chermak Koehler.
Deborah worked as the Administrative Assistant to the CEO/CFO of Fleming County Hospital where she retired after 20 years of service. She had also worked at the medical practice of Dr. Glenn Womack. She was very active in the church. She was in the hand bell choir at the Flemingsburg Methodist and Christian Church. She participated in the puppet ministry at the Flemingsburg Methodist Church. She attended Southland Christian and was a member of the New Creation Praise and Worship Center. In her spare time, she loved to read, trips to Tennessee, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her two children, Abbey (Darren) Carrico and Justin Lightner; her three grandchildren, Aubrey Chanel Lightner, Bentley David Lightner, and Liam Zachariah Carrico. She is also survived by her three siblings, Mark (Vickie) Gray, Kathleen Gray, and Charnetta Gray; her special family friends, Marsha and Loretta Mitchell; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
In addition to her mother Virginia and her father Oliver, Deborah was preceded in death by an infant brother born in 1951.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Friday, October 25, 2024, at the New Creation Praise and Worship Center with Dr. David Barnett officiating.
Deborah will be laid to rest in Elizaville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m., until the hour of service at 1 p.m., Friday, at the church located at 1431 Helena Road, Flemingsburg, Kentucky 41041.
