Dolores Elizabeth Womack, 78, of Flemingsburg, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the Hospice of Hope in Maysville, after a long illness.
Born in Glasgow, Ky. on September 19, 1945, her father was the late Fred Ray and her mother was the late Effie Thompson Ray.
Dolores attended Western Kentucky University where she met her husband, Glenn Womack. She graduated with a degree in elementary education and taught for several years. She owned a jewelry store before transitioning to keeping the books for the family business. She loved traveling and cooking for her family. She attended the Flemingsburg First United Methodist Church and was a devoted member of the local Silver Sneakers. Most of all, she enjoyed attending anything in which her grandchildren were involved.
Dolores is survived by her husband of almost 58 years, Dr. Glenn Womack; her son, Ben Womack and wife Julia; and her two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Alexander Womack.
In addition to her mother Effie and her father Fred, Dolores was preceded in death by her son, Andrew Womack; and her brother, Larry Ray.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the Flemingsburg First United Methodist Church with Pastor Robbie Shrout officiating.
Dolores will be laid to rest in Fleming County Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Seth Reister, Tony McGlone, Lucien Johnson, David Logsdon, Mike Ginn, and Zack Fryman. Honorary pallbearers include Eric Barbour, Dr. Phillip Tibbs, and Karl Zumbach.
Visitation will be 11 a.m., until the hour of service at 1 p.m., at the church located at 117 West Main Street in Flemingsburg, Ky. 41041.
In place of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Dolores to the Cancer Care Club (P O Box 189, Flemingsburg, KY 41041).
