Donald Lewis "Donnie" Hurst, age 86, of Flemingsburg, passed away Friday, March 28, 2025, at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home.

Born in Lewis County on June 4, 1938, Donnie was the son of the late Samuel Hurst and the late Violet Hickerson Hurst.

Donnie was a minister who had worked for the State Highway Department on the sign crew and mowing crew.

He is survived by his wife of six years, Shirley Williams Hurst; his six children, Mark Hurst, Kenny (Becky) Hurst, Jeffrey Hurst, Tracy Hester, Kim (David) Hickerson, and Rebecca Porter; his 13 grandchildren, Bernice Toy, Virgil (Courtney) Hurst, Michael (Melanie) Hurst, Misty Hurst, Kyle Hurst, Travis Hurst, Daniel Hurst, Samantha Conley, Matthew Hurst, Victoria Hester, Tyler (Carley) Hickerson, Tessa (Justin) McCord, and Emily Bishop; along with several great grandchildren.  He is also survived by two of his siblings, Homer Hurst, Sr. and Joyce McCann; along with several extended family members and friends.

In addition to his mother Violet and his father Samuel, Donnie was preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda Hurst and his brother, Gene Hurst.

The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. David Hickerson and Bro. Kevin Hickerson officiating.

Visitation will be 11 a.m., until the hour of service at 1 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home located at 150 West Water Street, Flemingsburg, Ky. 41041.
