Obituary

Doug Norsworthy, 81, of Flemingsburg, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home.

Born in Richmond, Kentucky on September 13, 1945, his father was the late Reverend James Norsworthy and his mother was the late Gladys Karrick Norsworthy.

Also that he graduated from Morgan County High School and Morehead State University.

A graduate of Morgan County High School and Morehead State University, Doug was a member of the Flemingsburg First United Methodist Church.   He taught woodworking and agriculture and was an assistant football coach in Paris. He was the alternative school instructor and an assistant baseball coach for Fleming County. He worked as a driver for Licking Valley CAP. He co-owned and operated Rose & Norsworthy Implement. He loved NASCAR and major league baseball (except for the Yankees). Affectionately nicknamed “Turtle”, he was a part of the “Chain Gang” where he helped move the chain sticks for football games.

Doug is survived by his wife of 57 years, having met in West Liberty, Bettye Rose Norsworthy; his daughter, Lorie Norsworthy; his brother, James Norsworthy; his sister-in-law, Priscilla Wheeler; his niece, Melissa (Richie) Dunlap; his two nephews, Arlie Rose and Brian (Jessica) Wheeler; his two great nieces, Catherine (Brayson) Boone and Belle Wheeler;  along with many extended family members and friends. He is survived by his cats, Pepe and Prince.

In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his favorite cat, Blue.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at the Fleming County Cemetery with Bro. Jerry Boling officiating.

Pallbearers include Jordan Fritz, Blake Price, Brad Hay, Marty Bradenburg, Arlie Rose, and Tommy Porter. Honorary pallbearers include T. Jeff Vice, Jeff Vice, Bobby McGinnis, and Danny Vice.
