Born in Flemingsburg on October 14, 1953, he was the son of the late Paul R. Moran and the late Florine Mitchell Moran.
John attended Fleming County High School, and upon graduating in 1971, attended Maysville Community and Technical College. He then transferred to the University of Kentucky where he completed his undergraduate degree. He then attended Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1980, which gave him the opportunity to do what he did best, care for animals.
Upon graduating from Auburn, John returned to Flemingsburg where he opened his own practice, Farmer's Veterinary Clinic. Throughout his 40 years of practice, John had numerous accolades such as being the veterinarian for the Kentucky State Fair and the North American International Livestock Exposition. John served on the Fleming County Livestock Show and Sale Committee, and upon retiring, still gets together buyers' groups to make sure that the kids and the sale are supported.
John is survived by his wife of 13 years, but the love of his life for over 35 years, Scarlet Shane Lawson Moran. Together, these two showed what commitment to your love and to your dreams could bring. These two shared a love of farming and the fruits of their labor and love can be seen in the crops they've grown, the children they've raised, and animals they cared for.
