Obituary

E.W. "Woodie" McKee, 98, of Poplar Plains, passed away Friday, December 23rd at Fleming County Hospital. He was born August 12th, 1913 in Fleming County to the late Amos and Augusta Sproles McKee. Mr. McKee was a life long farmer in the Polar Plains & Tilton area. He had worked at the quarry, was a truck driver & school bus driver, carpenter, mechanic, and had operated a service station in Poplar Plains. His hobby in later years was wood working and loved sharing the work that he had done with people. There was never a job too big or too small for Woodie. He was a life long member of the Poplar Plains United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Daugherty McKee, his parents, brother Hildreth McKee, sisters Vinetta Harmon, Dorothy Harmon, & Gracie Arnold.

Survivors include:

Children: David McKee, Lois McKee Rose, Aylene McKee of Poplar Plains
Ruth (Bill) Humphries of Hudson, FL
Joyce Douglas of Mt. Olivet, KY

Grandchildren: Julie (Kevin) Burton, Jeff Humphries, & Joni Douglas

Great Grandchildren: Justin Corlis, Chase Burton, & Reese Burton

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Tuesday December 27, 2011 at Boone - Nickell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Fleming County Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday 5 - 8PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the Poplar Plains United Methodist Church
