Emma Lee Powell Souder, 85, of Winchester, passed away early Monday, April 4, 2026, at Centerpoint Health in Winchester.

Born in Peterburg, Kentucky on April 24, 1941, her father was the late Albert Powell and her mother was the late Delia Isaacs Powell.

Emma was a 1959 graduate of Jackson County High School and had worked as a product demonstrator.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Thomas David “Dave” Souder; her granddaughter, Lisa Marie Deaton; her grandson, Rex Allan Hale; along with several great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Janette Brown; her brother, Earl Powell; as well as many extended family members and friends.

In addition to her mother Delia and her father Albert, Emma was preceded in death by her three children, Tonia McKinney, Tereasa Gunsauley, and Danny Hale; and six of her siblings, Audrey Brewer, Edith Hopkins, Roy Powell, Floyd Powell, Russell Powell, and Dale Powell.

Visitation will be 11 to 11:30 a.m., Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home located at 150 West Water Street in Flemingsburg.

Emma will be laid to rest in Wedonia Cemetery.
