EmmaLeen Newsom Rucker, 89, of Wallingford, formerly of Stamping Ground, passed away Friday, February 28, 2025, at her residence. She was the widow of Daniel Wayne Rucker.
Born in Muses Mill, Kentucky on December 14, 1935, EmmaLeen was the daughter of the late McKinley Newsom and the late Macil Clark Newsom.
EmmaLeen had worked as a seamstress throughout the years. She was a wonderful cook who centered her family gatherings around a good meal. She loved being outdoors, working in her garden and keeping her lawn looking just the way she wanted it. She was an extremely independent woman who worked even harder when the challenges that life threw her way got tougher. She loved canning what her garden provided and she loved knitting and crocheting. EmmaLeen was a member of Ramey's Chapel.
EmmaLeen is survived by her four children, Kennard (Nancy) Marshall of Marion, Texas, Rick Marshall of Flemingsburg, Lisa (Ricky) Crump of Flemingsburg, and Dana (Kevin) Royse of Georgetown; her ten grandchildren, Tammy (Robbie) Carpenter, Christa Marshall, Kimberly (Terry) Lovett, Miranda (David) Utterback, Sasha (Matthew) Willard, Derrick (Lora) Crump, Tyler Royse, Whitney (Nathan) Hinton, Natalie Crump, and Delaney Royse; her 16 great grandchildren; and her three great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Joyce Newsom; her three nephews, Terry (Marie) Newsom, Tim (Lisa) Newsom, and Dave Watson; along with many extended family members and friends.
In addition to Daniel, her husband of 42 years who passed in 2015, her mother Macil, and her father McKinley, EmmaLeen was preceded in death by her brother, Burnice Newsom; her sister, Leona Watson; her brother-in-law, D. A. Watson; and her daughter-in-law, Joetta Marshall.
The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., Wednesday March 5, 2025, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home, with Bro. Jesse Hickerson officiating.
EmmaLeen will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park.
Pallbearers include Derrick Crump, Tyler Royse, Robbie Carpenter, David Utterback, Nathan Hinton, Jeg Flora, and Dawson Flora. Honorary pallbearers include Terry Newsom, Tim Newsom, and Dave Watson.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 4, at Boone-Nickell, located at 150 West Water Street, Flemingsburg, Ky. 41041.
