Francis R. "Jake" Skaggs, 71, of Wallingford, passed away Thursday September 11, 2014 at the University of Kentucky Hospital.

Jake was born March 10, 1943 in Morgan County to the late Leander & Mandy Ferguson Skaggs.

Jake was retired from Judy Construction after 11 years and Shannon & Hurd Construction after 25 years as a heavy equipment mechanic. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He attended the Mt. Carmel Methodist Church.

Jake is survived by his wife Barbara "Barb" Parker Skaggs; 2 sons Robbie Skaggs of Wallingford, KY and Jeff (Debbie) Skaggs of Royce City, TX; 2 daughters Sherri Skaggs of Cincinnati, OH and Monica (Jamie) Lutz of Wallingford, KY; grandchildren Chris (Haley) Gooding, Taylor Skaggs, Rachel Skaggs, Reagan & Landen Lutz; sisters Mary Ferguson of Crockett, KY and Faye (Ford) Estep of Fairborn, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 8 siblings.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM Sunday at Boone - Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Fyffe and Bro. Jerry Eubanks officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 - 9 PM Saturday at the funeral home.

Steve Fearin, Tom Fearin, Tracy Glascock, Russell Holt Larry Fearin and Doug Maddox will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
