Gladys Bays, 94, of Fox Valley, passed away Sunday November 9, 2014 at her home after an extended illness.
Gladys was born October 23, 1920 in Floyd County to the late James Earl and Josephine Neely Williams.
Gladys was a loving wife, mother and grandmother she loved her family and taking care of them. She helped her husband Johnnie whom she married in February of 1940 run the family farm. Gladys loved to cook, garden, sew and tell stories about her life.
Survivors include her children Carl (Doris) Bays, Garnett Hall, Donald (Margie) Bays and Harold (Joyce) Bays all of Fleming County; brother John C. (Sheila) Williams and Banner, KY; sister Bobbie (Aubrey) Wyatt of Trenton, MI; grandchildren Carla (Tim) Davis, Jimmy (Charlene) Hall, Melissa Brown, Tammy (David) Hughes, Mark Bays, Donald (Jenny) Bays, Deborah (Mark) Brown, Kelly (Wayne) Morris; step-grandchildren Bobbie Jo (Robbie) Vice and Casey James, great grandchildren Tiffany Hunter, Ashton & Peyton Hall, Brian Gulley, Candice Kearns, Allison Hughes, Adrienne Bays, Hanna Bays and Seth Gardner; step great grandchildren Darren Hughes, Dalton, Conner, Lincoln and Naomi Gray, Brandi & Jessie Vice, Xavier, Gunner and Richard Mason; great great grandchildren Zera, Spencer, Payton, and Tegan Wells, Kallie Kearns.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Johnnie Bays in 2005, sisters Goldie Snipes, Hazel Haunhorst, Maide Volbert, Virginia Hempker and Betty Stephenson; brothers Roy, Elmer "Rob" and Frank Williams.
Funeral service will be at 1PM Wednesday November 12, 2014 at Boone - Nickell Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Conley officiating. Burial will follow in Newman Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 5- 9 PM.
