Obituary

Golda "Newsom" Cooper, 78, won her battle with cancer when she was called home to glory from her earthly home, on Ryan Road, Muses Mills, KY at 12:55 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013. She was born March 27, 1934 to the late Andy and Alma Newsom, of Muses Mills, Ky. She was married to the late Rev. Wendell Cooper on December 29th, 1951. They shared 45 years together. During that time she helped her husband pastor several churches in Lewis and Fleming County. Golda was a member of the Muses Mills Christian Holiness Church and was active in several Ladies Groups in her community.

Golda is survived by her daughters, Penny (Joe) Dunaway of Muses Mills, KY, and Peggy (Jerry) Eubanks of Flemingsburg, KY. She was the number one fan of her daughters, "The Cooper Sisters," and loved traveling with them in their singing ministry. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Amanda (Charlie) Mers, of Muses Mills, KY and Andrea (Michael) Bramel, of Flemingsburg, KY; her two great-granddaughters, Nevaeh Noel Mers and Della Renee Bramel; her brothers, Gene (Peach) Newsom and Bill (Brenda) Newsom of Muses Mills, and Sam (Jenny) Newsom and Tom (Velma) Newsom of Flemingsburg, KY; her sisters, Eulene and the late John Young, of Springfield, Ohio, Imojean (Jimmy) Gulley of Muses Mills, KY and Phyllis (Jerry) Boiling of Hilltop, KY; her nieces and nephews, Steve (Lisa) Newsom, Carol (Mike) Workman, Rhonda (Jeff) Workman, Rick (Melissa) Newson, Melinda (Marty) Wisecup, Janet (Pat) Grimes, Pam (Jamie) McFarland, Dwayne (Kim) Newsom, Julie (Justin) Moore, Randy (Claudia) Perry, Karen (Mike) Smith, Natalie and the late Mark Johnson, Denise Young, Jeff (Deedie) Gulley, Joe Gulley, Phillip Gulley, Tammy Brown, and Kevin (Angie) Boling; her great-nieces and great-nephews, whom she requested also be listed, being, - Amber, Allison, Tyler, Michelle, Emily, Victoria, Michael, Mason, Nathan, Cassie, Heather, Emery, Erika, Sara, Elyse, Taylor, Garrett, Kelsey, Grant, Meredith, Kaitlyn, Sara, Derek, Ashley, Courtney, Chase, Carson, Zach, Colton; several great-great nieces and nephews; special friend, Yvonne Gulley and many other friends and relatives.

In addition to her parents and husband, Golda was preceded in death by a son, Phillip, two brothers, Phillip and Edward Newsom, a nephew, Anthony Newsom, and a great-nephew, Isaac Knipp.

Golda's family would like to express sincere thanks to all the family, church families, friends, and the Cancer Care Club who supported them throughout her illness. Your thoughts and prayers were greatly appreciated. Special thanks to the Hospice nurses from St. Claire Regional Medical Center and her respite nurse, Pam Compton, for their outstanding care and compassion, allowing her to spend her final days at home with her family.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Friday, March 29, 2013 at Muses Mills Christian Holiness Church with Rev. Jerry Boiling, Rev. Doug Reeves, and Rev. Jerry Eubanks officiating . Burial will follow in the Newman Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 - 9 PM Thursday at the Boone Nickell Funeral Home and from 9 -11 AM Friday morning at the Muses Mills Christian Holiness Church.
