Obituary

Harold Duane Peters, 86, of Flemingsburg, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Fleming County Hospital.


Born in Clearfield, Penn. on December 27, 1937, his father was the late William Merritt Peters and his mother was the late Emma Louise Ennis Peters.


Harold worked for 44 years at Northwest/Delta Airlines and was the assistant manager of the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.  A recipient of the Northwest Airlines 1999 President's Award, Harold was also a part of the Kentucky Disaster Relief Team.  He was a member of the Bakersfield California Kiwanis Club.  A member and deacon of the Flemingsburg Baptist Church he participated in Lay Renewals and mission work. Harold was a huge UK Wildcats fan.


Harold is survived by his wife of 66 years, Phyllis Hyatt Peters; his daughter, Sheri Lynn Phillips; his six grandchildren, Shannan, Benjamin, Brandon, Michael, Jimmy, and Justin; his five great grandchildren, Alyssa, Kaleb, Braxton, Owen, and Nathan; and his great, great grandson, Greysin.


In addition to his parents William and Emma, Harold was preceded in death by his son, Michael Peters; his two grandchildren, Amanda Lessley and Kyle Crandall-Peters; and his two siblings, Patricia Dworken and James A. Peters.


The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the Flemingsburg Baptist Church with Pastor Benjamin Phillips and Pastor Trent Keeton officiating.


In honor of Harold's love of UK basketball, please feel free to wear your blue and white colors.


Harold will be laid to rest in Fleming County Cemetery.


Pallbearers include his five grandsons, Benjamin Phillips, Brandon Phillips, Michael Peters, Jimmy Peters, Justin Kintz; along with Zachary Hyatt and Austin Hyatt. Honorary pallbearers include the Flemingsburg Baptist Church deacons.


Visitation will be 11 a.m., until the hour of service at 1p.m., Thursday, at the church located at 1856 Elizaville Road, Flemingsburg, Ky. 41041.
