Helen Frances Richardson, 84, of Flemingsburg, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at Fleming County Hospital.
She was born Jan. 19, 1931 in Mason County, a daughter of the late Charles and Martha Shields Hayes.
Helen was raised in Versailles, KY at the Methodist Children's Home where she was mentored by Bro. Sweazy who helped further her education and earn her nursing degree. Helen was a graduate of Kentucky Baptist Nursing School in Louisville, KY, over her 50 year career she served in many nursing capacities. She was a home health nurse in Louisville, KY, worked for Phillip Morris and Jeff Boat as a staff nurse, Cincinnati Children's Hospital, Pioneer Trace Nursing Home, Fleming County Hospital and retired from Fleming County Health Department. After Helen retired she enjoyed going on tours with the Shockey Tour Company. She attended the Hillsboro Christian Church.
She was the widow of the late Donald Richardson, Sr.
She is survived by her son, Donald Richardson, Jr. (Connie); daughter, Debra Sorrell (Roy Wayne); grandchildren, Chris Sorrell, Ashley Ishmael, Becky (Fletcher) Powers, Elliot Earlywine, and Rodney (Christy) Earlywine; several great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Donald and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Tami Ishmael; and sisters, Ann, Alta Ruth, Florence, Anna Dean; brothers Billy and John Hayes.
Services will begin at 12 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016 at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Boling and Pastor Shawn Meade officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kentucky United Methodist Homes For Children & Youth (PO Box 749, Versailles, KY 40383-9982).
