Henry O. Jones Jr., 79, of Flemingsburg, passed away Thursday March 13, 2014 at Johnson Mathers Nursing Home in Carlisle after a brief illness.
Henry was born on August 3, 1934 to the late Henry O. Sr & Gladys Bennett Jones.
He is survived by his two daughters, Iva Jean "Jeanie" (Carl) Evans, & Bonnie McCall (James) Burden, all of Carlisle, KY; seven grandchildren, Cindy Evans, Carla VanWinkle, Chad Evans, Chandra Jennings, Jeremy McCall, Kristi Sidles and Leigh Ann Earlywine; fifteen great grandchildren & ten great-great grandchildren; siblings Bonnie (Norman) Duncan and Lawrence (Carolyn) Jones; nephew Travis Jones; niece Lesley (Randy) Newsome; great nephews Trevor and Corey Newsome.
Henry was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Evelyn Pauline Jones and his parents.
Henry was retired from Browning after more than 25 years of service, and was a former driver for Licking Valley CAP. He was a veteran of the US Army being honorably discharged as an E6.Henry was a lifelong member of the W.N. Fant American Legion Post and was the former commander of the post. Henry was a devout & faithful member of the First Church of God in Flemingsburg for many years.
Funeral services will be at 11 AM Monday March 17, 2014 at Boone - Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Tucker and Bro. Tommy Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Elizaville Cemetery. Visitation will 6 - 8 PM Sunday at the funeral home.Military rites will be performed by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834.
Pallbearers will be Rob Earlywine, Carl Haight, James Burden, Carl D. Evans, Kenny Dearing, Jeremy McCall, Travis Jones & Norman Duncan.
In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the First Church of God of Flemingsburg.
