IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Idas Lynn Roush
Pendland
January 3, 1920 – July 6, 2017
Idas Lynn Roush Pendland, 97, longtime resident of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2017, at Hillview Retirement Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.
Idas was the seventh of nine children born to the late Okey Milton Roush and Bertha Lorenda Hudson Roush of Lendon, WV on January 3, 1920. Idas married Thamur Earl "Red" Pendland on May 8, 1947, and they had one child, Gary Earl Pendland.
Idas retired from Randalls Textron in 1986 after 25 years of services. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Fleming County.
Growing up during the Great Depression and losing her mother at such an early age, she became responsible, resourceful and resilient. She was quick to laugh and tell stories of her childhood and all the mischief that she got into with her siblings. She left her childhood home at age fifteen to take on the world. She travelled to Baltimore, Maryland where she worked in the factories during the war to support herself. She loved her family. She was always up for an adventure and lived life to the fullest whether it was take a hot air balloon ride or flying to California at age 89.
Idas is survived by her daughter-in-law, Christine Pendland of London, Kentucky; her grandchildren, April (Ryan) Clausing of Portsmouth, OH, Price (Alisa) Pendland and Ben (Shania) Pendland both of Flatwoods, Kentucky, and Kristie Jackson of London, Kentucky.; her adopted grandchildren, Laura (Michael Overbey) Ballard, Jason (Jessi) Gulley, Joanna (Joseph) Pridemore and Tim (Lou) Day. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Emily, Abby and Rilynn Clausing, Cody, Daulton, and Madison Pendland, Lexi, Logan and Jacob George, Bella and Gabby Pendland, Destiny and Vanessa Brandenburg, and Autumn Jackson.
She is preceded in death by her spouse, Thamur "Red" Pendland, her son, Gary Earl Pendland and her eight siblings: Edith Klingensmith, Kathryn Gill, Ann Weigand, Robert Roush, Marcella Howard, Erma Rorror, Alberine Roush and Irene Roush.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Monday, July 10, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home in Flemingburg, Kentucky with Rev. Jeff Lambert and Rev. Ben Cain officiating. Burial will follow in Fleming County Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3 – 6 p.m., Sunday, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home.
