Obituary

J. W. Denton, 97, of Flemingsburg, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Fleming County Hospital.  He was the widower of Bonnie Jean Emmons Denton.


Born in Bourbon County on May 24, 1925, his father was the late Jack Denton and his mother was the late Sarah Brannock Denton.


J.W. was a well known cattle, crop, and tobacco farmer.


He is survived by his three children, Billy Joe (Jerri) Denton, Sheri (Don) Latham, and Christie (Tom) Skaggs; his three grandchildren, Tanner Latham, Taylore Latham, and Wade Skaggs; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.


In addition to his wife Bonnie and his parents Jack and Sarah, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Helen Virginia Kissick and Helen Hamm.


The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Monday, January 16, 2023, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home.


J. W. will be laid to rest in Fleming County Cemetery.


Pallbearers include Randy Vice, Ted Allen Ramey, William "Possum" Flora, Robbie Miller, Wade Skaggs, and Tanner Latham.  Honorary pallbearers include Buford Cooper, Bill Vise, Johnny Ball, Doug Vice, and Marty Vice.


Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, at Boone-Nickell.
