James T. "Shorty" Ishmael, 77, passed away Monday May 20, 2013 at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe in Maysville after an extended illness.

Mr. Ishmael was born September 7, 1935 in Fleming County to the late George and Mary Dailey Ishmael. He was a well known painter and wallpaper hanger throughout the area. Shorty was a excellent cabinet maker and had a passion for woodworking.

He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Terry (Deborah) Ishmael, Kevin (Amy) Ishmael, Charlene (James) Endicott, Debbie (Dickie) Hamilton, Rob Cromwell & Ricky Cromwell; sister-in-law, Edith Ishmael; brother-in-law Ted Cromwell and several great nieces, nephews and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Robert, Kenneth and Demaree Ishmael and a sister Virginia Cromwell.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Friday May 24, 2013 at Boone - Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Harmon and Sis. Gail Skaggs officiating. Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 - 6:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hayswood Home Health.
