James Douglas "Jim" Mineer, 88, of Morehead, formerly of Flemingsburg, passed away Wednesday September 4, 2013 at his home after an extended illness.

Jim was born March 10, 1925, in Fleming County to the late J. Clifton & Anna Laura Carpenter Mineer. Mr. Mineer was retired from Fleming Mason Energy as a electrical engineer after 40 years of service. He was a longtime member of the Flemingsburg Baptist Church and the Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834. Jim proudly served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps as a Sergeant.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Thelma Timmons "Sis" Mineer, a infant son James Douglas Mineer, brother George Mineer, his parents and a nephew Dale Mineer.

Survivors include his wife Sada Marshall Ravenscraft Mineer whom he married on November 10, 2007; step-children, Jerry Ravenscraft, Allen Ravenscraft and Julie Ginter; Nieces and Nephew, Vickie (Mark) Gray, Debbie (Gary) Follmer - Fraley, Rickie Mineer; Several great nieces and nephews and several step-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM Sunday September 8, 2013 at the Flemingsburg Baptist Church with Pastor BJ Donahue and Dr. Chris Beckham officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834. Visitation will be 5 - 8 PM Saturday at Boone - Nickell Funeral Home and 1PM till time of service Sunday at the church

Cliff Lewis, Josh & Jared Ravenscraft, Matt, Brad & Josh Gray, Travis Follmer and Rickie Mineer will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Timmons, Floyd Collins, Sam Lands, Donnie Carpenter, Bill Miller, Jerry Ravenscraft, Allen Ravenscraft, Doug Hamm, Robbie Ginter & Mason Ravenscraft.
