James C. "Jim" Porter, 66, of Flemingsburg passed away Wednesday March 12, 2014 at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe.

Jim was born April 18, 1947 in Morehead to the late Andrew Samuel and Drusilla Noble Porter.

Jim was a graduate of Fleming County High School and Morehead State University where he received a bachelor's degree in agriculture and an associate's degree in business. He was a retired farmer and a member of Mt. Carmel Church of Christ the Morehead Alumni Association and the W.N Fant American Legion Post #5.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers David and Phillip Porter.

Survivors include his wife Rita Flannery Porter; children Scott (Mary Ann) Porter, Kevin (Nichole) Porter, Joey (Alice) Porter all of Flemingsburg and Valerie (Ron) Wurth of Elizabethtown, KY; step-daughter Crystal Michelle (Tim) Howard of Nicholasville; sister Virginia (Norman) Ball of Loveland, OH; grandchildren Keegan, Hannah and Carolyn Wurth, Bobbi Jo, Cassie, Kalen, Kole, Anna Marie, Samuel, Maggie, Asa Porter. Garrett and Bailey Lewis, Emily Elizabeth Monroe, Lauren Ashley Howard; Sister-law-In Jo Ann Porter, Niece Davetta (Bob) Peterson

Funeral service will be at 2 PM Sunday March 16, 2014 at Mt. Carmel Christian Church with Rev. Steve Singer officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 – 9 PM Saturday at the church and after 1 PM on Sunday. Boone – Nickell Funeral Home is caring for all arrangements for Mr. Porter.

Tyler Vice, Duane Flora, Jason Doyle, Ron Wurth, Travis McGlone, Dustin Singer, Justin Ingram and Chris Mitchell will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mt. Carmel Christian Church or Hospice of Hope.
